I still say mico cars would be well received in the US if they were allowed by law. Basically buyer beware, no US crash standards required. I still say this is the only reason Elio has 3 wheels. Maybe not even 10 years ago, but when gas hits $4 again and with nothing under $10,000 new suddenly a $6000 Maruti Suzuki Alto looks pretty good. Guess what, it gets "up to" 82 MPG also! Although is "rated" at 54mpg us.
The hybrid version is actually rated at 84 mpg and goes for $13,000 in Japan.

Since people already have their choice to get "unsafe" vehicles, why limiting them to 2 or 3-wheelers?

It says the Shreveport facility is still in play, this is just a Pilot Operations Center for the production of test chassis.

Elio Motors hopes to shake up the auto industry with its 84-mpg-estimated three-wheeler, but first, it's going to need to produce vehicles for testing.

They are intent on shaking up an industry that going to be lunch for the EV makers.

Well, technically, the 4th would be the Model 3...but if you're excluding the Roadster, then it will be the Model Y (S3XY).
