In some under-developed countries, such as Brazil, the perception of a car as a status symbol is still prevalent, even though a three-wheeler would actually be more practical for the business. But I still consider the higher degree of "specialization" of an utility tricicle like the Piaggio Ape to urban operation is the deal breaker, as many households still have only one vehicle and therefore it's required to perform reasonably on occasional road trips too.

I still say mico cars would be well received in the US if they were allowed by law. Basically buyer beware, no US crash standards required. I still say this is the only reason Elio has 3 wheels. Maybe not even 10 years ago, but when gas hits $4 again and with nothing under $10,000 new suddenly a $6000 Maruti Suzuki Alto looks pretty good. Guess what, it gets "up to" 82 MPG also! Although is "rated" at 54mpg us.
The hybrid version is actually rated at 84 mpg and goes for $13,000 in Japan.

Since people already have their choice to get "unsafe" vehicles, why limiting them to 2 or 3-wheelers?

They'll have to un-ban hoverboards first.

It says the Shreveport facility is still in play, this is just a Pilot Operations Center for the production of test chassis.

And so far, they haven't done better than Tucker yet. I'll start increasing my "UltArc Estimated Chance of Success Rate" from 0% when they accomplish more than Tucker.
