Although is "rated" at 54mpg us.
The hybrid version is actually rated at 84 mpg and goes for $13,000 in Japan.

12000 miles would save me $60 in gas.

If you can get 55 mpg in a Mirage, you could probably get 100 mpg in an Elio.
Gas prices are ticking up, so I was glad to get an email titled "E-Series Engineering Completed." E-series production starts and things are getting interesting.

The Elio is NOT going to get a 82 highway EPA rating. They say "up to", my Hemi gets "up to". The average owner is going to be pissed when they don't even get 50 mpg in real world combined.

He also owns a Hyundai for those occasions. Nice try, A for effort.

It's the bickering in the back seat that's getting to me.

He wrote, "55mpg while hauling the wife and both parents" in a Mirage, and then you wrote, "If you can get 55 mpg in a Mirage, you could probably get 100 mpg in an Elio." The comparison here was between a Mirage and an Elio, not between a Mirage and Elio+Hyundai, and the Mirage can carry 5 people where the Elio can't--which is an important consideration for potential buyers, who historically have not gravitated toward small, efficient two-seat vehicles at least partially because of the need to keep a second vehicle on hand. For example, Honda projected that it would sell 45,000 first-gen Insights, and in reality it sold just 17,000. If the Elio ever comes to market (and I very much doubt it will), the car is quirky enough that I wouldn't be surprised if the difference between the rosy projected sales numbers of 250,000/year and real sales is a larger ratio than it was for the Insight.

Technically, it seats zero. Because it doesn't exist. But if it ever ships, it's supposed to have a back seat.
