The rates of taper we are concerned about with cars only apply up to about 250MPH. Above that, the rates of taper are different.
The thing that totally messes up the Cd of the Elio is the outboard front wheels. I don't think the Cd is all that great. It could be pretty poor, in fact.

They will be fighting the Oil companies on this one.

Let's not forget that the oil and energy companies will be against it's coming to market. High mileage vehicles don't sell fuel! The road is long and tough. I too, hope they will make it to market, but I would expect the pricing to be closer to 10-11,000 by the time you get the automatic and other full features.

Many oil companies are actually also involved in some "green" projects, because they know petroleum won't fill their pockets forever...

When the wells run dry, they will still want our money.

As long as the oil companies don't buy up Elio and toss it in the dust bin.

I don't believe that would happen, but who knows. Now that the mainstream automakers are already into the hybrids and electric drive, maybe those would be the worst opponents to Elio...

I think Paul's pretty well determined to see this thing through. He's devoted YEARS to this project, and anger over the status quo is what brought it on in the first place. He seems to be quite the patriot.

watching this thread and the progress of this car closely. wish I had $1000 I didn't care about, I would love to reserve one.
if this comes to be, I think the aftermarket for it would be huge.......body kit, modified boat tail, turbo, wheel pants, stripes, etc.

slamson911 -- Your first post! Whoo Hoo.
Oliver Kuttner is the guy that gets that part. Listen to him (at 1:28), Edison2 is a/the big competitor to Elio Motors:

You can reserve one for a mere $100. You'll just be further down the line than those shelling out a grand.
