Just because Elio is (probably) going to fail - doesn't make it a scam.

Attorneys for Elio Motors argued that the practice is not in violation of state law because the reservations are just for spots in line and do not guarantee actual sales.
However, the commission’s attorney and executive director pointed to Elio Motors’ website and news releases that use words like “buy,” “sale” and “own” as evidence of intent to sell.
|
So let's get this straight: the company's lawyers maintain that the company is a scam.
But the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission bent over backwards and found "intent to sell" where, as the company's lawyers stated, there isn't any.

Elio from the start was formed to only begin production if the government paid for the whole kabootle
Elio has stated as much in the past so the whole 9 year fiasco has always been a cash grab, it was clear after 2010 that the government would never fully fund Elio like they did Solyndra

Help Mr. Wizard, I don't want to be a socialist. We are seeing a similar fiasco with Solar City in Buffalo, NY. Which union will get the job of shoveling all the lake effect snow from the solar panels? With a fraction of the money spent by the state we could be making three wheeled motorcycles that get 150 mpg using the excess capacity we have here in Elmira, NY after the helicopter plant was taken elsewhere.

That's why we have snowmobiles Actually my wife's father used to tow the kids around the backyard on a snow dish behind his dirt bike.

That reminds me of the news story I saw the other day.. Woman was pulling her kids around in a little red wagon.. With her car!
Woman arrested for towing kids in little red wagon | KGW.com
I clearly remember being pulled a few miles into town by a rope tied to my bike. My brother was pulling me with his Red Allstate scooter..
Wow, there it is!

It felt like we were going 50 MPH.. When he got over the bumpy railroad crossing, he sped up! I flew a few feet on the last set of tracks..
I was ready to kill that stupid jerk!! Never so scared in my life (of 12 years)..

Now I'm picturing an hypothetical Elio with a track conversion on the two front wheels and a tail-dragger skid on the back.
