Finally the author doesn't have any credentials listed other than a blogger and IMHO it shows. Now can we find a reputable bean counter to tell me Elio doesn't have a chance?

I'm not a reputable bean counter, but Elio's SEC filing isn't a confidence builder. They wanted to raise $10 million, and raised $150,000. When you raise 1.5% of your goal, that should tell you you don't have a chance.

Another red flag is spending half of the money you raised, $75,000, on a nonrefundable retainer to a company whose job is to sell your penny stocks.

Elio Motors has a $3 million payment due on Sept. 4, and is depending on Caddo Parish taxpayers to come up with the money.

Then there's the puffery in claiming the trike will get five star crash ratings, when motorcycles aren't crash tested. When the snake oil salesmen resort to out-and-out lies, your BS meter should peg.

Crash-testing a motorcycle sounds pretty pointless, but an enclosed tricycle can eventually fare decently in a crash-test under the same standards a Smart would be submitted.

It should do well in the 40% offset head-on collision, like the Edison2 VLC and the Prowler.

I was told they have 50 million backing them. I guess we will see in September. not long ago Lit motors said they were sold out of their first run C-1. Now I see you can pre-order one of the first 20 at 10k each. 15% non-refundable and no delivery date so far. Something fishy there too?

It won't mean much to me until they start showing up on the used car lots.

I'm still bummed that Chrysler didn't ship the Pentastar in the 1930s
