The EPA 84 mpg is without hypermileing. The people there i talked with said they can get that much normal driving. After showing them a pic of my car and explaining how I drive they were very sure I could get over 100 and 120 mpg was not a bad goal.

Awesome. Very awesome. I can imagine that the Team Elio will be tough to match.

Yes, there is a fair amount of low hanging fruit left, that car should be capable of over 100mpg, my insight does 70mpg, which means tripod front tires, mirrors and the rearend could use some work. The motor itself is likely oversized for the job but intented to give a good driving experence with an off the shelf solution.
Something else is because the "car" is a motorcycle the same emission standards do not apply, cycles are a little more lax, meaning they might be able to shoehorn in leanburn.
In any event...
I wish they would have been selling these as "gliders" as of last year so they could have some positive cash flow before rampup.
If they were selling gliders I would love to drop a G1 Insight drivetrain in, that in of itself would push the envelope above 88mpg. (if that 88mpg is EPA)
Cheers
Ryan

Yeah, it would be a fantastic platform for many different drivetrain options. I'd be all about a full electric with a 250mi range. If you could put all that together for $14k or less it would sell like crazy!

If you need a motorcycle license to drive the Elio, then you can take the test in it, too. If you have to wear a helmet, then get a half helmet or a 3/4'ers. Hopefully, they can get the laws adjusted, since it is enclosed, has seatbelts and air bags.
Ah, I see the pictures, now. They have revised the front suspension and the headlights and the fenders. We should see the P5 fairly soon, with their own engine.

Is THAT the *finalized* design? Thse headlight bezels look like after-thoughts that where "stuck-on" after the body was designed.

No it's not, the Eliio motets web page has the current production design pics, this one was version 3. 4 was in Detroit at the time I saw 3. And version 5 is the production model I think.

Full wheel skirts, LEDs, maybe RE92s and wheels with less mass. I visited it in OH, the P3. Nifty, I hope it comes to exist.

The orange car is the P4, with the integrated headlights and the full wheel fairings. P5 will have a higher rear roof line, to provide ~1.5" more rear headroom. I could sit in the back, but I did hit my head, and I'm 6'-4".

I've been scrimping and scrounging to put my deposit down next week. I can't wait, I just hope it's not delayed too long.
