Recently I have not been doing EOC because I've been doing some experimenting with coasting in gear vs. in neutral to see which gets me better millage (I think I have a fuel cutoff while coasting in gear based on data so far). However, if I had to guess, on my way to work, traffic permitting and when I'm not on my bicycle, I probably EOC about 50-60% of the time on the way there, and almost never on the way back because the way there is a nice rolling downhill while the other is just the opposite so I take the highway to avoid the hilly ride home.

I'm not sure, but I'd guess my engine is off about 50% of my commute. It's probably more like 60 on 40 off for highway trips.

It's absolutely a benefit during the warmup segment. The engine will use much more fuel for the time it's running, so if you minimize that and make full use of the time it IS on, in a pulse, your overall will be better. The first couple miles are critical to a good trip - make or break it.

Back on topic: i EOC for about 8 miles of my 50 mile round-trip to work.
It's not the same on my car.

He's right. There's a lot of cars nowadays that the ign circuit has to be on in order for the brake lights to work. GM specifically loves to do this on all new cars.

Eoc

I could have sworn that the how to I read here about EOC said to turn off the engine, then turn the key back to the on position so that airbags, odometer and other electronics would be on. Am I not correct? Some peeps getting 40% of their drive EOC? WOW, don't think that would be possible with 15 of my 18 mile one way drive to work on the expressway. Trying to figure out if going to the side streets and braving the traffic lights would be that much better or not. I was thinking not. Any suggestions?

Well I made it 525 miles in a Metro before filling! With 138 miles EOC. Figured out to 62.5 mpg's!!!!
Hell, I'll take it. I try to shut off at 55-60 and coast down to 15 or so. This tank it's gonna be 60 down to 25. And I'm not keeping track of it.

Anyway just wanted to say that it does work.

Regarding the ICE cutting off its fuel supply when coasting - I assume my 1993 diesel engine does this, but I'm not 100% sure. I've been meaning to find out if it actually does. Can anyone point me in the right direction? It'sa Peugeot TUD3 if that helps.
