EOC Question

What is the shortest distance that you would bother turning the engine off for? I know that other traffic concerns happen, and things don't always turn out as planned. But, if you had the road to yourself.... what is the shortest distance you'd turn the engine off ?-- knowing you'd have to restart to climb a hill or accellerate.

I don't do it much, but if i can coast down 20-30km/h in peace, then i'll turn it off. Also SOMETIMES if i approach a long light as it turns red i'll turn off if there is definately nobody coming. So it has more to do with time, than distance... If i can get a good 30 seconds of EOC, i'll do it.

Closer to 10 seconds for me. Maybe a little less. Depends if I can clutch start vs. key start (more likely to do short ones if I can clutch start).

I try to get at least 6 seconds. I spend a lot of time with my engine off...

10-20 seconds, but not as often as the past. The automatic is showing its age...
