IIRC they called it LNT, Lean NOx Trap.

VW is putting Scania for sale to cover the prejudice from the Dieselgate aftermath, and maybe either Ducati, Lamborghini and Bentley are also going for sale.

They already talk of it as done deal, including MAN (ship engine div). Speaking of which do they have same cheating software? We need to get one of those ships on dyno.
Lamborghini, Bugatti or Ducati could soon be on sale - Dieselgate

But the EPA cycle is not a realistic representation of actual real world usage!

I'm sure there's some emissions cheat for when the ship is on international waters, but nowadays in some harbors there are "environmental" taxes charged over the vessels depending on their emissions rating. No wonder dual-fuel HCO/LNG setups are becoming more widespread in ships.

A guy on my mail route was looking for a letter from VW which he got today. Said he's getting $1000 settlement for his TDI. I don't know exactly what year or model he has but he seemed happy.

I don't believe the owner can be required to pay for the fix. VW/Audi will be required to pay for the "cheat defeat"? if it comes to that. I am more concerned about what I may have to spend on a tune to get it to run like it did when we purchased it. I chipped the 04 TDI and my 07 Grand Cherokee CRD and it is well worth it. More power and better mpg is better in my book. I guess it depends on whether you are more concerned about CO2 or NOx.

I was under the impression VW will still pay for the recall "fix" on emissions. The $1000 was for reduced resale or the probability he will use more fuel then advertised after the "fix".
