Yeah, this as a good idea. I would do that, wait a while, and see if I end up liking it. Sometimes the different look and colors will "grow on you" (hopefully, not like a fungus).

I do like the plastic idea, I also think that the style & color will grow on me.

I haven't found any cheap clear thin plastic that holds up to UV rays over a long period of time during my testing.

Too bad he couldn't use the Toyota T-100 15" hubcaps that fit over the Toyota steel wheels...they're stainless and hold up pretty good. All you have to do is fill in the holes...

How about that aluminum duct tape stuff? The tape that's actually metal foil. Very strong adhesive, and the color should match pretty well.

That stuff just might work, too. I had thought about it later last night, after I put the laptop away for the night. Keeping it from wrinkling while applying it might be a problem, though.

I thought about the silver HVAC tape, it would be hard to keep it smooth.

PS, I looked and they are plastic hub caps.

Well, plastic makes life fairly easy.

Sand the area you want to cover down to bare plastic on the backsides, get yourself some sodey pop bottles, and cut pieces to install with plastic cement. (Modeling glue.)

If they're ABS, and you have any pieces of ABS laying around, you can use acetone to "weld" the pieces together. ABS plastic gets all mooshy in acetone, and once the acetone dries, the ABS hardens again.

mounting pizza pans

Hi all,
first post here so take it with a large grain of salt but I've read this whole thread and there is no mention of how I mounted pizza pans on 15" stock steel rims. I need to note here that this will only work on some applications because my rims have a lip that accepts the pizza pans almost perfectly. (the pizza pans measure 16" straight across and the rim lip inside diameter is approx. 16 1/16") took some channel locks and squeezed the rolled up rim on the pizza pan so that it was forced out in 4 places. now the pans snap into place inside the rim lip like they were made for it. I haven't driven the vehicle at all with them like this as I did it last night. one other note with the balance weights that are on my rear tires i'm just going to cut a slot in the pizza pan and fold it inside so the weight of the cutout is still there just out of the way. I'll post some pics if anybody is interested and if I can figure out how to make them small enough

May I introduce you to the Ecomodder Photo Album?

Check in your User Control Panel, the link is at the top right of every page when you're logged in, or you can use this link: http://ecomodder.com/forum/usercp.php and log in if you're not already.

Once you're in the UserCP, you can look to the left of the screen at the side bar, and the second heading there is "Networking". The third option under "Networking" is "Pictures & Albums". Click there, and you can make an album, then upload up to 60 images to it. It will auto-resize images that are too large for the database, and provide you with a way to hyperlink them to your posts, so you don't have to manage attachments every time you want to use an image.
