Finally broke 55 mpg!!
I was surprised when I got gas tonight. 56.67 mpg!!! I could not believe it. There was a time, not long ago, that I did not think I could break 50 on my commute.
I think when I can get 55 or better consistantly I will call the nut adjusted and start more serious areomodding.

Excellent! Feels kinda good that it CAN be done!
Are you using mid-grade? If so, try using high octane with a timing bump. I found that using 91 with advanced timing is more than worth the extra cost. Lowest octane gives by far the worst fuel economy. But I'm sure I'm preaching the the choir...

Congrats, Will. So, since you sound surprised, can you put your finger on what happened to get you over the hump, or is it a mystery?

Congratulations! I'm not sure I could get that high in the Camrino. But, I'm going to set +5MPG goals each time I break one. I just broke 35, going for 40 next. I suppose I'll know when I reach the limit.

Sounds good to me. Do you have something on your car to tell others what kind of fe you are getting? A cling or a little "55 mpg" written in window marker.

So far all I have used is 87... I will play with it more when I get my timing issues down pat.

I don't really know. I have stopped any P&G or anything "extreme" and just focused on keeping the gas pedal in one spot. If the car wants to slow down I just let it. With the hills on my commute I have been ranging between 35 mph and 60 mph. People don't seem to like it much, but I think they just assume that a Metro cannot do any better...
I do not know if I will be able to keep this mpg up or not. I do, however, believe that this is the highest I will get without any kind of instrumentation. I have been nailing away at the nut behind the wheel before getting a vac. gauge put in or doing any real mods.

No, I just let them think the little "POS" cannot go any faster. Joke is on them. Seriously I have been thinking about doing that when I get to the point that my results level off...
