OK, so just over 2 years since I last made progress on this, but it's done! It was rather convenient that I moved to house with a proper driveway, basement, and yard to get everything done in.
We left off when the grill block was just foam in a cheap replacement ricer-style grill. Here it is with a coat of bondo to fill in the gaps:
And here it is with a few layers of fiberglass:
Now, sanded and painted and sanded and painted. Still not perfect but it's close enough for rock and roll.
The main reason I didn't touch this project for so long was that for the last couple years (since I moved) I haven't had to drive. I got a job where I took the train and rode my bike the rest of the way. Now, starting Monday, I will be commuting by car again and I want it to be all set and done.
I did have to remove my MPGuino a few months ago because the splices where it was wired to the car's computer were not sealed properly and were rusting away causing all kinds of problems. In a month or so I'm going to go the Torq app route with a bluetooth ODBII device.
Now to check out the rest of the forum to see what I've missed
