It's not a Steyr 55.

I don't get any details on most of these pictures. I just get them on a social media feed that is for the most part just the images. But that image looks like someone tried to make a regular beetle look like a Steyr.

I still consider a motorcycle engine swap as a viable alternative for an old Volkswagen, or even for a newer car such as a Subaru. Even though Harley-Davidson engines are not so great at all, mounting one that way to fit into a car might actually lead to a more homogeneous cooling (as long as there is an electric fan to keep the air flow when the car is stopped or in slow traffic). Moto Guzzi is cool, but not officially available in my country.
I did a lot of reading on this swap tonight. The problem is that the adapters do not support the cycle engines output shaft bearings where it connects to the VW transaxle. So most of the manufacturers of the adapters have stopped making them from the engine bearing failures. There's only two brands officially still in production. (that I found) But they won't sell just the adapter, they want to sell you one of their trikes. So for now the bike engine swap is not completely viable, when the consumer (me!) can't buy just the adapter.

Well, there's your problem. In the interval between AOL and Facespook, there were the news aggregators. Slashdot, Boing Boing and Fark. I still visit them every day.

Social media extract value from content that is (excepting 'selfies') created elsewhere. You in turn extract value from what is left. That double distillation leaves only the pornographic titillation visual aspect.

Ferinstance, that is not a Kohlruss VW. I forget what it is. The picture doesn't remind me, which reduces the value (to me) of seeing it. It's a Mercedes-Benz or something, if I cared, I'd take it to Tineye or some other reverse image search.

That ruby red Beetle in a rock quarry is a rendering. They got the lighting all wrong for the light-colored ground.

FYI the pictures from my album are from the NW Bug Run in various years. It's June [the] Third this year.

Ok, well I'm out of images anyway, so I suppose I will take a break from the VW topic. Here's the last that I have:

That's why I was urging you to pace yourself.

Don't unsubscribe, so you can see if it lives on. Twelve pages is a pretty good run. I intend to drop VW-related stuff here in the future; like after the Bug Run.

Today's contribution: Page 299 in Voiture Minimum:

The Beetle is in black, Le Corbu's design is in red. It lost a design competition because it only seated three. (There's a whole thread available I never put up. There are eleven scans in that album) Page 136, ibid:

PS
Here is why I thought the previous pic was a beetle converted to look like a Steyr, as you can buy the window conversion.

Well he put up 2 more pic's, so here they are. Also I bet he is getting them from the Samba. But I have yet to prove that theory.... the good part on my side is that now I have zero cached on my desktop. So I can pace myself as advised

Jason Torchinsky put up some more articles on obscure VW productions:

Here's Another Mysterious Beetle-Based Thing You Probably Never Heard Of (UPDATED)

Produced in Colombia with a 67hp Type III engine.

This Has To Be The Least-Known Air-Cooled Volkswagen Ever Built UPDATE: It Gets Weirder

Produced from 1979 to 1982 in the Philippines on a 1303 Superbeetle chassis!

I often wonder why the car manufacturers offer so many great cars in other countries, when obviously if they sell in those countries, they would sell here. I mean who truly wants a Yugo! But a Corcel, that has a usability that small businesses would grab up for delivery's, etc.

I don't forward all the pic's that I get, but these were shared today:

This one is Russian. A design group draws them, then some are made into real cars, at least as far as I understand as I don't speak Russian. It was actually made, but I resized the image so it looks choppy. I believe they are still making the front fenders for a 1930's look.
Solifague Design

I know its not a Vdub, but I threw this one in for Freebeard!

Those Steyr 50 and 55 repowerings with Beetle drivetrains remind me of that Simca 8 which an uncle of mine had a few years ago with a similar setup. Notice the Honda CG 125 filling cap on the left hood.
