i just saw that today on another forum. looks awesome - factory vw EV drive train for your classic aircooled VW - fantastic.
i bet its going to be loads of money though.
there are already classic car ev specialist here in uk that will convert a T2 but cost is huge - like $35k.. so ball park same as buying a new tesla model 3.

If you look at it, they butcher the chassis, bobbing it at the rear torsion bar housing and replacing the motor mounts. But it looks like the batteries are placed under the floorpan, with the rockers panels lower by 3-4". Without lowering the front and rear valances, it throws the proportions all off.
If they butchered the floorpan and raise the batteries up under the seats it would be an improvement.
New Type II bodies are available at $17,000. A good foundation for an EV conversion.

Both of those Beetles were swapped with an EA827. BTW the Itamar with a clear engine lid is currently for sale in my mother's neighborhood.

Now that's pretty sweet. Especially the narrowed and tucked front bumper and early Type III front turn signals. The Model A tail lights and overhead driving light work well together. The knock-off wires are completely doable, I knew a guy that has them.
OTOH I'm not sure the drivers door will open.
How about a Beetle/Squareback/Thing mashup?

I think it's hilarious. Having sat on that sheetmetal for a lot of miles, I recognize the seat tracks and heater knob tube.
All that sheet metal is available new. Good opportunity for adding an old jukebox or tractor radiator.

https://insideevs.com/news/370521/ec...n-39900-euros/

So here's a skateboard that you can mount any Type I or Type III body on. It's about $45K in dollars with three different levels of battery and horsepower.
Maybe a Fridolin or Beuter taxi?
