1200x600 looks good, but has a performance impact.

I have also been wondering about that.

From the FI_manual.pdf in the .zip
Quote:
The flow area contains red and green 'clouds' on top of the fluid, coloured blue. These do not represent any
addition to the fluid and are merely areas are where the calculated vorticity is above a predefined threshold value. Different colours represent local rotation in opposite directions. The stronger the colour, the higher the vorticity. Small snow flakes will appear from thin air randomly, follow the motion of fluid particles, and then melt. Both colour and snow flakes are only for visualisation.

Thanks Ardent, I didn't even think to look for a readme.
I'm going to try to stop posting random stuff in this thread but want to thank ChazinMT for it once again as it was helpful in visualizing the aerodynamics of my Michelin Challenge Design competition entry.

Used a screen capture software that creates a video. Frame rate is somewhat slow because the flow illustrator and screen capturing were running simultaneously. I need a better PC !
You can watch them side by side at youtube doubler :

The flow seems to have improved on the second video. Am I wrong ? Any thoughts ?

Definitely more stable, which is probably better. Instead of the bottom red one I'd extend the belly pan out into a diffuser that sticks out past the bumper. I did this a little with my belly pan but am planning a more aggressive setup for next summer.
The top spoiler is probably doing the most good. I'm not so sure about the midwing.

To shorten filename entry, place images in the same folder as the FlowIllustrator.exe. Then, instead of typing "images\filename.bmp" each time, "filename.bmp" will suffice.

CigaR007, thanks for the double. I hadn't known about it. ANd these are interesting images. But how do we know the spoilers are improving the flow and reducing drag from this? The colors are for different flow directions in the most vorticity. But it seems "empty" space is not supposed to mean there is no flow and no vorticity. Is that a correct read on the pdf? Can we estimate the visualized changes in terms of Cd?

Not really. You can't even estimate the right values for viscosity because they don't tell you the units it is supposed to be in or the distance scale per pixel.

Then it's really just a pretty picture, isn't it?

Looking at the upper backlight wing,is it projecting above the roofline? It looks like it is.If so,it would be tripping flow separation and frustrating the ability for the air to 'jump' to the rear spoiler.
