Well. Drive each and monitor how much gas was used. Take the one that uses less.
Assuming ultra gauge can list gallons used on a trip like my scan gauge 2 can.
Post results.

I second that: 2 miles? Bike!!

If that's not an option, a coolant/block heater would also help with short trip fuel economy.

Disappointed with the car (so) I got an Ultragauge to help my driving habits and to get instant feedback of whats happening and how my foot is affecting the fuel economy.

That is the name of the game!!!!!
makes 'adjusting the nut' seem so LOGICAL!!!!!

Great JOB!!!!

I have to put up a second for the biking the 2 miles. You will see an amazing increase in fuel economy if you cut out extremely small trips like 2 miles. Not to mention the increased engine wear due to very low operational temps is not good in any case.

Guess part of that American laziness comes into play with that one! I'm an avid distance runner too and I could come up with 100 excuses not to run or cycle to the gym: too early, not enough sleep, cold, already have a second running workout planned, closing at work, work late nights so I can't wake up earlier etc etc.

That being said I do run there occasionally but prefer to drive.

is it the 2.0L with one cam called the split port or SPI
or is it the twin cam Zetec 2.0L engine.
commonly the SPI gets 1 to 3 more mpg

not to be a downer but.........
the SPIs have a nasty valve seat issue of braking up and trashing the engine. at about 100/120K
though ive seen it happen at 60K to 200K
its not a matter of pore service its when they go they go. its like they made them to fail.

im replacing a engine in a 02 SPI that blew to the point it broke the no4 piston from the connecting rod...cracked the liner, bent the no4 rod, and trashed the head...all in a drive though at low rpms
needless to say the engine is a total loss.

im sourcing a good lower end and a head with up-graded valve seats to fix the issue...

It seems like the gauge will pay for itself pretty quick.
