Thanks Bam,I'll lament its demise without ever seeing it in the flesh.
It reinforces my complete lack of expectations as to ever seeing a consciousness shift within the USA within my lifetime.

Confirmation bias. Things are getting better. [OK, I looked at your comment at #318. Not everything is getting better, just things in general]

The link I posted has [undated] reader comments the are all buy/sell opportunities.

I started a teardrop thread that sort of went nowhere, but the chassis would work well under the 1955 German body.

skyking -- I could see a New Beetle where the hatch is removed and replaced with a pyramid consisting of 3 triangular portholes and a 5th wheel hitch up high over the rear axle line.

The single wheel trailer seems like it would make gap sealing a lot easier: only one axis of movement, rather than 3 to deal with.

Speaking of "the little Beetle that could" and 5th wheel hitches...

new candidate for full boat tail

Here is a micro-turbine range-extender trailer for a Nissan Leaf which would benefit from a steamlined,full-boat-tailed body:

Why a microturbine? They are awfully inefficient. Generally 14,000+ BTU/kw output. Gas engines run around 10,000 BTU/kw. Gas engines will run on propane just fine.

Aero-trailer? Yes!
Micro-turbine trailer? Not so much.
