Anybody have a set of newish "B" OEM plugs they'd want to swap for a newish (two thousand miles) set of "A" plugs?
The guy at the dealership insisted he put new OEM plugs in Ron Burgundy right before I bought it. Turned out to be true, but of course they're the wrong index
If anybody has some good "B" plugs laying around I'd be willing to buy or swap them for my "A" set. I'd hate to spend sixty bucks on new ones when these are practically new themselves

Can you just index them the old fashioned way by shimming them?

Grid charged my battery for the first time today. The difference is phenomenal. I rigorously tested it, then gently drove it to see if the battery level would drop all at once, but it stayed almost full. After repeating this for about 20 minutes, the battery dropped one bar. I kept thinking that there had to be something wrong, I could hardly believe that the battery normally functions this way. Two days ago, I was on my third recal of the tank.

I also get full assist now, where before I was only getting about 25% max before charging it. I can hardly believe the difference.

The effects will drop off fairly quick unless you to a discharge cycle. I used to do this. I say used to, because my battery is so bad I just discharge to 0v (until my light bulb shuts off) then recharge to max. I have to do it once every 2 weeks or I start to get recals.

Discharge to 80v then charge.
Discharge to 40v then charge.
Discharge to 20v then charge.

I know absolutely nothing about what shim size to use to change an "A" to a "B", so I'll probably just get some "B" plugs

Glad it worked! Now we just have to get a discharger set up so we can all discharge ours before grid charging next time

How long does a discharge typically take? I don't know if I could afford to spare the time to do that every few weeks. I could try to work from home on Mondays if that's what it came down to, I guess.

There is a great thread on this over at InsightCentral. There's still debate as to whether a deep discharge is good for the battery health or not, and most recommend letting it rest for a day or two after grid charging it to full (don't drive it), then top it off again, to get the best balance.

That's cool, thanks for the heads-up. I'm away on business until Wednesday, so I'll probably have my wife start charging it before I get back, even though I already drove it for a day. I'll have time to do some research when I get off, thanks for the info.

I also wouldn't leave it charging for more than maybe 16-20 hours, that's plenty of time to top off a battery that isn't completely empty.

Oh, right. So I had a wiring issue earlier and jacked up your grid charger. I hadn't replaced the ( fried ) voltmeter on there, yet, so I couldn't see what it was at, but tests with a multimeter looked fine, so I just ran it until I felt pretty confident that it was fully charged.

The new voltmeter should be in by the time I get back home from my trip, so I can charge it with some output this time.
