Yep, bet we could do a psycho-analysis based just on the items in the photo.

I have been essentially doing exactly what you're suggesting there, for the last few days. I have been limiting the amount of acceleration I can give myself at any one point and that is that, unless I feel that I'm impeding traffic on a small 2 lane road, I will not accelerate with more power then can be given to me at 2k RPM. So far it has worked pretty well, I do tend to slow down on hills a bit more now, but I try to use momentum to from previous hills and such, to get me up the hill in a reasonable manner. I did go on the highway for the first time today in a while and I tested people's reactions to different variations in speed. On this particular freeway the limit is 65mph, I stayed in the right lane and cruised at 55mph, I had a lot of complaints from the people behind so I bumped it to the absolute limit I was willing to deal with which was 62mph (roughly 80kph for those playing in the rest of the world) which you may know as the optimal speed for a car to drive at for peak efficiency. This yielded much more positive results as I was under the posted limit, but no one seemed to mind since I was in the right lane. Most people were zipping by me at 80+mph, but I just sat in the right lane shaking my head thinking of how much those reach oil empires in the middle east must love them.

I tried going 55 the other night on a 65 mph highway, I literally felt like my life was in danger. I bumped it up to 60 and that was tolerable. MPG was about 1.5 more than I would have expected at 65.

I went a constant 50mph on a 65mph highway for about 20 miles, it wasn't particularly busy, people would come up behind me in the right lane until the got close, then they'd pass in the left, returning to the right. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it illegal to be in the left lane unless traffic is backed up or your trying to pass in the state of IN? (that's where I was in/heading.)

As for a local law, I have no idea, you might check your local DOT website for details on that. I know that there is no FEDERAL law prohibiting it unless there are signs specifically saying for slow traffic to keep right. I know that in Germany it's illegal to just puts along in the left lane unless passing, but I think here it's more of an unwritten rule then anything else, sort of a kind gesture acknowledging that you are impeding the progress of another person. I know that in the days when I used to drive 90mph on the freeway (GA400 north is a 4 lane divided highway that is called the "Autobahn of the South" for many reasons, mainly the 80mph speed limit combined with a very generous 10mph over limit law) I used to get very irritated if I was cruising along and someone was doddling along in the left lane going anything less then I was simply because there were signs that say slow traffic keep right all along the freeway.

Hello -
Here's the 8.5"*8.5" version :
What I like is that since it is a window-tint static-clingy plastic, I can still see through it no problemo.

That's really cool! Where did you go to get that made, I have been thinking of making a window decal similar to that, maybe something that said "Hypermiler" or just had the logo from the site on it.
