Guys, I got a disturbing letter in the mail today, and maybe some of you more experienced gentlemen can help me.

The letter says that they couldn't get me the financing we agreed on, so they are recending the lease agreement. Basically telling me that I have to return the car. Am I going to get my down payment of 1500$ back? This is total BS and I'm not upset, just a little annoyed.

That sucks, Balto. Sorry. Seems like you have been loving the ride. Look into it a little more. I found this with a quick google search: Car dealership has sent me a Notice to Rescind contract. Is there anything I can do about them getting out of the contract? - Avvo.com

BUT, yes they probably have to return the down payment.

I guess? Appearantly none of the guys on the Civic forums have heard of it either.

Well, got home from the dealer, apparently they forgot to send in my check stub (saw it in writing) so that was the problem. So no issues!

Then the car is still yours! Happy to hear it all worked out. Happy and safe driving! (The rims look sweet on that thing!)

I'd argue that, but I'd lose the argument.

Didn't want to go with a new Prius, or a used one or a used Volt for less than a new Civic? It's easy to get 60MPG on a '16 Prius.

It all came down to the turbo. Ntm the new Prius is over 30k, and has batteries. As does the Volt. Eventually, they will die, and need to be replaced. I would rather spend a little more in fuel than have to deal with battery issues. It's the reason I haven't rebuilt the battery in my insight. As soon as smog is up for my insight, I'll just part it out. I'm tired of always stressing over stupid batteries.

P.S. I'm getting minimum 43MPG to work and back. I got 45.1 round trip yesterday, and I had a head wind and used A/C. Insight today got 59.6 with similar conditions.
