Ok now I'm curious: how was the taste? Doing quinine for it's other medicinal effects like pain control?
I just like quinine/ tonic water and noticed I feel better an hour or so after consuming some but as we both know, I am a bit odd.
Ugh watermelon......

It's for the antimalarial quality. It's worked so far.
The other 2/3rds might be watermelon (currently) or berry or citrus juice or fruit punch.

You have/had malaria? Or is this preemptive?
Does work on arthritis in the major joints (new wave citation required)

I'd be curious to see the cost of meal kits broken down, and come to think of it, this can probably already be found on the internet. Ideally I'd make a spreadsheet that also shows prep/cleanup times. In my case, I'd prefer cost-per-satiety instead of cost-per-calorie - most people eat too many calories anyway.
I've started keeping a bag of meal replacement powder, particularly for traveling. It compares poorly to a full English breakfast, but four scoops plus water keeps me filled past lunch, and as long as it isn't consumed too frequently, it's not half bad.
Lately I've had more dollars than time, and I eat out for lunch most days. There are multiple places nearby where I can drive, eat, and be back at my desk in less than 30 minutes, for ~$7-8USD (after tax, no tip), and have a nutritionally complete and very satisfying meal, with no cleanup. My largest concerns are keeping my mood up, and buying myself free time, and these options satisfy.
Attached: $7usd meal.

The British Empire prescribed gin and tonic for Malaria.
My Mother, rest her soul, used 7up for stomach complaints.

That looks pretty good.
I used to eat out every lunch back in the day, and I'd spend $2-$4. Those deals are long gone. McDonalds doesn't even have a dollar menu anymore; it's a $3 menu.
For emergency food, price per calorie and shelf life are important. A SHTF emergency is no time to contemplate calorie restriction.

Agreed. It's risk analysis. Cycling through high calorie food to keep it fresh would more likely subtract good years from my overall lifespan, in exchange for providing a potentially better outcome in the case of a rare event.
Speaking of cycling - I look at it a bit like bicycling, where more collective lifespan is lost from inactivity than accidents, on average.
Not that I won't wear a helmet, or having some emergency rations.

I suppose I was thinking only of storing a cache of emergency food for a long duration, but cycling through food regularly means you should consider storing food you want to eat regularly.
One of my coworkers cycles through canned food with a first-in, first-out method. I doubt his food has the shelf-life of freeze dried food, but then you don't need extreme longevity when you're cycling through it.

Coburg Pizza has pizza by the slice for $4-6 before 3PM. If I have to leave the house I try to make it one of the stops.
I can be in and out in the time it takes people who're there before me to get served.

I used to occasionally splurge on a $5 Hot-n-ready Little Ceasar's large pepperoni pizza. It wasn't much of a splurge though because it fed me through lunch and dinner. Eating all day for $5 and not wasting time in a grocery store, cooking, and cleaning is not a bad deal.
Round Table pizza used to have an epic lunch buffet with various pizzas, a massive salad bar, and unlimited chicken wings for like $7. I'd skip breakfast, stuff myself at lunch, and still be full at dinner. I'd ask for a particular pizza, they'd "remind me" that they don't do special orders, and then the next pizza that came out was the one I "suggested".
