As I said earlier, Capt, Marvel is garbage. I know this because I can't remember a single thing about it except that one can fall from space and hit the ground and be ok, yet still struggle fighting against things.

Alita was entertaining, but the proletariat vs bourgeoisie theme was played out sometime shortly after motion picture was invented. Never portrayed is that you've got a high functioning but exceedingly tiny subsection of humanity that provides 99% of the advancements in every technology and theory, and the vast majority of us benefit from it, even if we happen to sift through the leftovers.

That's what makes the Alita/Marvel rivalry so sad. At least it's exposed Rotten Tomatoes for an industry shill instead of an independent voice. At least to any anyone that follows Jeremy at The Quartering or Doc Ido.

Rotten Tomatoes comes as advertised; rotten. I've never trusted it as a reliable indicator of film quality. I don't even know how the rating system works, but it seems to be in opposition to everything I consider to be good about a movie.

IMDB movie ratings consistently come within a half-point of what I would rate something, and often even closer than that. Very rarely do I find myself off by as much as a point. About the only time I disagree with ratings is with certain movies that are about nothing and yet beloved. Movies like Brazil, or Taxi Driver.

We played The Wall for our kids again on Saturday. They were into it, even more than a few years ago.
