Hybrid hate is alive and well? Got hate flyer on the Prius this weekend
I almost forgot it was 2017 on Friday when I came home and my wife showed me this letter that someone put on the Prius while she was out shopping. It almost made me laugh at the inaccuracy and outright untruth to it. I admit I had to look up the plating issue, but found nothing. It really reminded me circa 2007 (before the gas crunch and everyone FLED to hybrids), back when everyone loved hating them.
Anyway, I thought I would post it for your entertainment.
It does make me wonder why someone would even bother with this... is your charming letter supposed to make me want to sell my car? Its 13 years old at this point haha.

Ha! I'm surprised people are still doing this type of thing.
This is the anti-hybrid equivalent of the infamous "Prius lady" berating the owner of the idling pickup truck.
Here's the last (only) note I received on the Firefly:

I guess the guy would really be offended by my Volt since it has the big battery and an ICE.
If he's really concerned for the environment, he might want to look up the processes for making the paper and toner he used for printing his memo . . it looks like that isn't the first time the guy has tucked one under a windshield wiper. He seems like he may be a serial memo-tucker and he probably has one for all occasions.

I wonder what kind of high horse they rode in on. I would bet it's closer to a full-size SUV than a bicycle.

I find #1 extremely hard to believe.
I want to know specifics on the " plating process". Based on vegueness of the complaint alone I am highly skeptical.
Disposal of batteries is a lie.
Older hybrid NiMH batteries are highly recyclable, lithium chemistry as far as I know are not economical to recycle but are non toxic. Lithium chemistry are generally not recyclable into another battery, they could be chopped up tossed into a steel blast furnace and possibly recovery the Fe, Co and Mn used. The lithium would end up in the slag.

I'm no fan of the Prius, but I can't imagine the mindset of someone that would go out of their way to print out these notes and post them on cars. Around here, that would be a full time job as I literally see hundreds of hybrids a day on my normal commute.
I find the angle of his hatred amusing. Why assume Daox gives a crap about the environment at all? It's a large sedan that gets 50mpg and is now reasonably cheap to buy. That alone is why most people I know buy them.

Doax once again proves he lives in Wisconsin.
The "Don't even talk to me if you own a Prius" subset is large, alive and well here among the rednecks and cooters.
I had some pretty angry reactions to
1. My Comutacar
2. My Insight
3. My Volt
Had a waitress trying to explain how stupid it was to own my Volt since it was just so much more expensive all around.
Half the dating profiles here say they love mudding and you must drive a Harley
Usually doesn't pay to try to correct misconceptions.

I guess the demographics are a bit different in Western Washington. The obnoxious, Bambi-slaying redneck here at work... drives a 2nd gen Prius every day.

Pickup trucks, SUVs and motor cycles are expensive too.
They will all be the ones crying "where are all the fuel efficient vehicles" next te gas shoots up over $3.50 a gallon.
