Excellent work! I like the drone footage too. You definitely saved that old Ghia. Might be wise to keep that body out of the rain and salt though.

Nice video. Something about its stance, or the light, or both stance and light, makes it almost look like a toy in some of the shots. Nice toy!

Post a pic when you have enough posts. How did you see doing a hybrid?
Full EV conversions are popular. An hybrid could employ - electric front axle (through the road parallel)
- electric grafted onto a 4-wheel drive transaxle
- altermotor on serpetine belt (serial)
- Prius body swap

i was thinking maybe a transplant from a small hybrid, like a 1st gen insight.
not a lot of little ones out there though.
also thought about MHEV 48 or 72v stuff - but i just don't know enough about it.

You are asking for a LOT of work to do that kind of hybrid conversion on a VW. The ship has almost sailed on hybrid conversions. If I could make a suggestion, take a look at EV West's full electric conversions of VW's. They almost have it down to a complete kit, and the parts are available to do it yourself if you want to. No major cutting and fitting, and the performance is screaming when you are done.
Were I contemplating starting my Firebrid conversion today rather than years ago, I probably would have gone full electric and I would already have been driving it around. Technology has advanced very quickly!

This is as far as I have gotten. The car is gone, but I've still got the drivetrain. It's a Lexus LX400h rear axle with 68HP. It would replace the original engine and transmission -- potentially a reversible bolt-in process. The rear mount[s] are in plane with the VW frame. The biggest hurdle would be mating the Toyota output to the VW axle.
That and I never cracked the controller/battery pack part.

yeah, the controller/battery is something i know next to nothing about - i wonder RE: the toyota interface if you could replace the rear wheels with toyota splined hubs?
