Well, the ad's been up just over a week. 3 contacts, but no additional questions or tire-kickers yet.
I even adjusted the price to make it a tie for the cheapest Mirage within 1000 km of my postal code (out of 167 Mirages).
The strangest thing is I have gotten ZERO lowball offers. That's a first - usually I get one or two within a day of posting any car for sale ad.
Talking to a couple of other sellers, the market ranges from dead to very quiet.
I upped the ante with this new pic in the ad...

Sayonara...
Well, it sold!
Above: the Mirage being driven away by its new owners, a retired couple whose 12 year-old Hyunda Accent was written off in a drive-through when the driver of the following car slipped off the brake pedal by accident.
I really liked this car. I'll be getting another one (or two, or three).
My only regret is I didn't get to see its warm weather MPG potential.

Do any of your winter beaters see their warm weather MPG potential?

Shopping already
^ True enough.
I'm too, ahem, fiscally conservative to have two of my vehicles insured at the same time. One day, when I win the lottery...
---
I've already been Mirage shopping again. Well, let's say tire-kicking.
The above beauty -- decked out in ALL the dealer-installed bling you could double-sided tape onto it -- is the same year, make, trim & kilometers as my first one. Similar story too: traded in at a new car dealer in Ottawa (Chrysler/Jeep) that doesn't want to put any money into it, so they stuck it out back in the "as-is" section. Minor cosmetic damage, too (but not as bad as Mirage #1).
Get this: they've had it since LAST JULY!
They started out asking a delusional $5500. Eventually lowered to $3500, which is still a bit too much if I'm thinking about using it as a winter beater and then flipping it next spring (which I am thinking). I want a bit more buffer than that, knowing what I should be able to get for it next year. Have to factor in taxes, repairs, inspections & time investment.
For sitting so long, it's going to need a battery and brake work, at minimum.
I made an offer, which they didn't accept. They made a counter-offer, which I didn't accept. I thanked them for their time and left.
We were close though (couple of hundred apart). I'm honestly surprised they didn't contact me to follow up. I would have thought they need to get rid of it more than I need to buy it. Then again, maybe they really enjoy looking at it, considering how long it's been there.

It seems to hurt people's pride to get a worse deal later when they have a better opportunity now.

Nearly one year is not as bad as a few Nissan XTerras which were kept for 9 years a few meters from the sea...

Brand new ones? They would be pretty much ruined, wouldn't they?

Yes, they were kept on storage since they left the factory, but weren't prepared for such a long storage. They had to be nearly rebuilt after that...

Update: Mirage #2 acquired!
Just a postscript to note that I ended up getting another Mirage -- the same one I looked at in May, mentioned a couple of posts back.
New thread: Oops, I did it again! (Bought another cheap, 3-cylinder Mirage)
