I think MetroMPG's former insight has met it's end.

@MetroMPG, any idea if this is yours? The user refers to it being formerly owned by a Ecomodder, and you are the only one I know of who had a citrus and sold it.

MetroMPG sold it to Minispeed, who has not been active on the site for a while.

Whether it was Minispeeds car or not, it is always sad to see a first gen Insight meet its end - but happy to know it protected its driver well enough, again.

Looks like the impact blew the skin clean off the hood! Dang.

Glad everyone's survived more or less intact. Better the car than a person.

much sadness

Wow - yes, Minispeed got it from me and lived in the area where that car is (was). He ended up getting a Leaf, and gave the Insight to his mom. She drove it for a while, and then decided to sell it also.

The colour is right, the kilometers are right, the location is right.

But the dead giveaway (pardon the pun) are the grille blocks posted in the "in better days" before photo in that thread - those are the ones I made, since painted black somewhere along the line.

I had painted them fluorescent green.

In retrospect, I should have gone with orange.

RIP UFO! Glad nobody was hurt.

You probably need to update the X on your avatar. Two Xes? Skull and crossbones? A black band?

I thought so to at first, but you can see uncharred green paint under the hood and usually the fenders get charred too. I'd expect the thin aluminum between the bracing of the hood to have melted through as well.

Looks lo me like the hood skin is on the ground between the car and the truck.
