They were from some vendor on Ebay. They were specced as 6500K and 1800 lumens and cost me around $80/pair, if I remember right. When/if I need to replace them, it looks like I'll have better and cheaper options now, so that's encouraging.

My question is do they have a dual function, so high beam and low beam.

I would definitely like to reduce alternator drag so please share your findings

I've been looking at these LED bulb replacements for a while, but always held off for fear of unknown longevity and reliability. So I'm interested to hear any real world experience.
How hot do the heatsinks get, for example?

Yep, its right in the specs in the first post. They have a high and low beam. They both put out 2400 lumens, they just shift the light position in the housing (by illuminating one or the other LED) to shift the light pattern.

I can test the heat issue when I get them.

I agree, longevity and reliability are my main concerns too.

Daox, can you also take some pics of the light cutoff and the color? I usually like the 5k color temp. but every manufacturer has their own version of color temp. Also, it would be nice to see a good cutoff, so we're not blinding anybody.

Thanks!

EDIT: You should also consider getting a ballast. That will help with the longevity of the bulbs as well as keep them from flickering at a noticeable rate.

Yes, I'll be taking pictures of the install along with the beam patterns, etc. Any specific requests?

Also, if anyone who is camera savy could tell me how to properly setup the camera for a night shot I'd be quite thankful. Comparing lights can be tricky and I'd like to get it as accurate as I can.

I'm not sure why I'd need a ballast? These LEDs run straight 12V power coming off the battery. They shouldn't be seeing any voltage spikes.

Interested in how these turn out.

I'd like to see a photo of one OEM bulb and one LED side-by-side against a wall. That way we can see them under the same camera settings. It's hard to get a good representation, but this way we can see the differences between them.

You would need a camera capable of full manual control to set the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Otherwise the camera will adjust those settings based on light conditions and you won't be able to compare brightness from one photo to the next.

If you don't have a full manual camera, just take a picture of 1 LED bulb and 1 stock bulb at the same time. That will at least show the relative brightness.
