Somebody should do that as a kit-car rebody. It has the wheel/body proportion kids these days go for. And wheelwell flares.
Edit: I've been looking again at Ross Lovergrove:
In this Youtube video [yootoob/watch?v=e8vZBXdOeq0] (complete with irritating background noise) he discusses how he discovered the Morelli banana car (he credits Pinin-Farina in 1974), and did a 50/50 morph of that shape with a water droplet. The video implies that it works as both a forward and reverse tricycle.

The 'banana' shape Morelli design was a body of revolution adapted to a Fiat 131 platform and superseded by the "Aptera" shape.

Back in high school, I was drawing pictures of a sports car that was the front half of the Morelli and the back half of the Apertera; i.e. enclosed front wheels and open back wheels. I wonder if I still have one, or if I could find it.

...haven't found that drawing but I did find this:
That flying car you were promised? Aeromobil promises to deliver the world's first, soon.
The Aerobil website is here.
This is the most plausible one i've seen. I say that because it doesn't stray far from the planform of the Mott Taylor Aerocar—the only successful flying car to date. Smaller and ligher than the Aerocar, the major difference is that instead of trailering the wings and tail it's all-as-one, with the wings scissoring open for flight. (Don't ask me how they swing past the rudders )
Is it a staggerwing biplane? Or a tandem monoplane? Because it's rear-wheel drive, it rotates on the rear axle for liftoff.

This is a high wing monoplane. After looking at the website photos it seems the wings lift up and over the vertical stabilizers as they swing aft. The top panel between the wings lifts up to allow this. For my money I'd go with a Rutan Vari-Eze and a folding e-bike.
