My point is that it's not. What they ultimately produced is a long way from the original concept. Good in it's own way but not the same.

$150k is a lot but I would pay a premium for a high tech single or tandem seater with an emphasis on efficiency. It isn't only about saving on fuel costs. I just think it would be cool and fun.

I love the humor on the "a canopy that is no longer being manufactured by the original supplier."

Hudson Super-Six

Saw this beauty recently at a local car show - it's a Hudson Super-Six Coach, the 1948 model I believe. The curves and angles may not have been optimum, but it looks like the intent was certainly there - makes me wonder what you could achieve if modern CFD and aero optimisation techniques were applied to some of these older design concepts...

I also noticed that a broad selection of the older cars there had full or partial rear wheel skirts, some removable and others formed by simply having a lower arch.

When Professor Kamm was working in the USA,the Hudson was his only 'BUY' recommendation for friends and associates.
If you have 'A Method of Estimating Drag Coefficients',by R.G.S.White,of MIRA,UK,you might 'cook' the car on paper and see what it produces. It would be + or - 7-8% accurate.
I've seen Cd 0.36 claimed for the 1948-51 Nash Airflyte. If true,it seems like the Hudson could run in that territory.I see them at a local vintage wrecking lot, where Billy Gibbons has found parts for some of his project cars. The Hudson is a really attractive car.

Yay for Jocko Johnson! Here's the Special from Permalink#1050:

Here's his Triple Nickel streamliner:

Before I bought my first car I looked at a Hudson business coupe. But the right side had been sideswiped and I didn't have a clue on fixing it. When I was in college I'd pass by this house with a black Hudson 4-door parked in the fence-row. Just like that one except it was solid chrome from the driprail to the beltline. Finally, they said they'd had an offer for $1000 and I had to thank they for their time. My cousin's parents drove a Hudson like that.

I think better of the Nash Airflyte lately. Unibody in '41, the first really modern heating and ventilating, the Unipod instrument cluster, right-sized grille opening...
