Open wheels is a use case, Okay? The stance is good and the break in the bellypan is probably wrapping around the bell housing.

185 what? Kilometers per hour isn't too impressive. It's a German car on a German test track.

Wind tunnel smoke at 37:00.

1938 D-B M-B Stromlimien-Limousine

As a 'pseudo-Jaray' fastback, she suffered significant vortex drag.
At Cd 0.362, she's dirtier than a 2012 Dodge RAM 1500 eco.
Tatra's 87 of the same year was Cd 0.36.
Porsche's 60K10 perhaps Cd 0.20.
Considering that a 'typical' saloon of the day was Cd 0.64, they were all to be applauded.

There's a big chrome M-B grille behind that central light. I didn't see any ducting though.

On Kamm's patented design, the entire engine bay was airtight, and flow exited at the base of the windscreen cowl, allegedly energizing an otherwise stagnating flow; helping flow attachment over the windshield header and onto the roof.
I've never seen the belly of the Mercedes. They had a record car with Cd 0.12, which would have had a full bag-of- tricks. They're certainly not newcomers to aero.

From Southern California in 1936 came the Arrowhead Teardrop Car, which its creators claimed was “America’s first truly streamlined automobile.”

A year before the Airmobile, but two years after the first Dymaxion.

A bottled water company competing with the Art Deco beer trucks?

.

That MG EX181 is a cool little car. I think I may have posted it before in this thread many, many years ago...

It’s great to see it again.

Check this out...

I don't believe this has been posted before, a 1956 TBird with a Chrysler hemi:

Just A Car Guy: this 1956 Thunderbird was built in a New Orleans garage, went to Bonneville in the early 1960’s and set a record of 241.786 mph, and is now in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

The cowl scoop suggest the engine is set back somewhat.
