The Forester doesn't do as good the rest of the year economy wise, city or highway. I have always had a fun muscle car but sold my last one, a Barracuda, a few years ago. These new muscle cars are so good looking and all around great performers I just figured I would pick a modern Challenger, Mustang, or Camaro next. Have been leaning Mustang bang for the buck, maybe just keep the Forester for the winter.

With a tune, I think 12's and 40mpg is possible, that's hard to do in anything other than the Ecoboost 'stang. I looked at other newer muscle cars as well, but the 4-banger Mustang just seemed to make sense, and it'll chirp the tires on the 2-3 shift ![Cool](/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif)

The new 2.0T Camaro can likely do the same. Stats are very comparable, and with a slightly smaller displacement and less weight, 40mpg may be easier to hit.

I hope 40+ is possible, not even factoring in a tune!
I've got two more years before my warranty is up, and we'll see what Bama can do. I've got this pipe dream of cracking 60 MPG GGP2017 lol

I just saw this ad, under $20,000 for a new 2016 2.0T Camaro 6 speed. Looks like Chevy is giving Ford a run for "bang for the buck".

The Camaro looks like a deal, but in my mind the Mustang has a little more power, gets better mileage (or at least is proven) and runs about the same in the quarter.
I don't have any serious update on it, but I did do a little hypermiling via the lie-o-meter last night just for fun. I don't know whether it is the direct injection or what, but the engine loves low rpm. On my last trip at 70-75mph I was getting 32.6mpg (31.3 hand calculated).
.....but dropping the speed from 72mph to 58mph only increased the mileage to 34-36mpg, and I thought it would be better than that. Just for kicks I put it in 6th and drove 48mph which was about 1,200rpm, and the mileage rocked to 45-46mpg! So if the computer is to be believed, it likes the lowest engine rpm possible.
As a side note, the car doesn't seem very aerodynamic either, so a grille block will be up soon, along with less-than 235-series tires. Tomorrow I'm hitting the dragstrip, so we'll see what it does there.

Considering that car is boosted, I really wouldn't recommend a grill block or anything that will inhibit air-flow into the engine bay. Turbo's dump a lot more heat into the engine bay than traditional N/A cars. Even if they are well insulated, I wouldn't risk it on a brand new car.

Also be careful running around at low rpm. From what I hear a lot of these are blowing up due to people boosting at excessively low rpm. Cruising is probably okay, but if you wanna accelerate, downshift.

Worked pretty good on my diesel with no ill effects, so willing to risk it. Just going to keep an eye on engine temps. Turbo shouldn't create much heat as long as I don't get on it.

Yeah, no low rpm boost for me! Just saw the sig, nice mpg for the E.T man! I ran 14.35 at 98mph bone stock with the car, so I'm pretty happy with it. Went 4 rounds at the dragstrip, made it from 48 cars to the final 6, and lost on a -.02 redlight. Dammit ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

Of course the disclaimer of "1 at this price" is a little disconcerting.
