Me three!

A 2million insurance rider would make sense if we were putting on a show and inviting the general public, but for a small forum invite only get-together of just 5-10 people?!?

I'll be there. I would probably get banned if I wasn't since it's about 5min from my house. Is there going to be a prize for who uses the least amount of gas to get there...lol

LOL! Yes, you will get two different rewards: One: the "Kudos in Ecomodding" award,

Two: TWO EXTRA ECOMODDER DECALS!!!

(Actually, it looks as if I could give each participant a couple of pairs each, which I'm thinking won't hurt anybody's feelings...)

Oh, Hugh Jim, the $2mil rider WAS because they were going to rope us off a spot at their official meet which will be going on to the north part of the parking lot. I'm hoping they don't notice us... If so, I actually have TWO contingent plans up my sleeve...

Next year (This Fall???) will be different.

Dan, the meet-up went really well; it was really fun even in the extreme heat! I'll get photos of the new decals up soon! Thanks for organizing it and for the decals!

Record-breaking heat...

You're welcome, and thanks to everyone who showed up!

Yes, we did melt there a little... it was Sunday night before I really felt like I had all of my energy back...

Fast38, you saved the day with the cooler full of water bottles!!!

I'll get some Photobucketing done this afternoon and do a write-up this evening. I did make the 460 mile round trip on the one tank, (YEAH!!!) and then to church yesterday. I'll fill up before my trip through town today, so that I don't cut the mileage any, and see how I did...

I hope Hugh made it up to Chicago - what a long trip!
I didn't notice the pun in his alias until it was pronounced aloud!

The REST of the story: Part 1

Well, if I don't get started, I'll never get finished..

So here's how the story goes:
__________________________________________________ ________

Saturday, June 27th. 8:30 AM. Car is crammed full of gas. Trip odometer is set to zero.

Destination: The Independence Center Mall. East Greater Kansas City.

Objectives for the day: Drive the 460 mile round trip on one tank of gas; meet with a few others who have done better than that.
Just what CAN I get out of a car that weighs 3,434 pounds?

Forecast: 97 degrees, with a heat index of 107.

OH MY GOSH, WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN US INTO...

...this means the [A/C on/off] tactic will be used with DWL and drafting. I still think I can beat my best tank even though the A/C will be in use...
(okay, guys; I looked to see. It was 32.43. I also looked up the weight. Just too many 3s and 4s to remember...)

Note to self: NEVER schedule an outside meeting on a blacktop parking lot in the summer!!!

The extended story I have decided to post on the Success Stories blog. Needless to say, I beat my best tank!

The next modder there is Fast38. This guy is serious... he keeps a wiper blade in the car for when it is needed, and replaced his bucket headlamps with the later aero ones!!!

lovemysan and Hugh Jim Bissel are there fairly quickly. lovemysan's car is seen in its latest form, full belly aero and all. Hugh Jim's Toyota can be seen in back, with its bike shifter/throttle control for DWL...

Yep, real men wear wheel skirts!

Another of lovemysan's mods - ADJUSTABLE warm air to the intake! (Move the end of the duct... )

Possibly the most important mod of the (hot, muggy, sunny) day!

MORE TO FOLLOW!!!

The REST of the story: Part 2

Note to self: NEVER schedule an outside meeting on blacktop in the middle of the summer...

My nose is still peeling...

ANYwayyy... it didn't take long for the heavy artillery to come out. There were two different guino-type weapons on hand: this one gave us all kinds of revealing information...

This one is one of dcb's, which he graciously repaired after an incident which shall remain unnamed...

One liter of eco-fury!!! Fast38 wins the "Best Tank" comparison. The Intrigue promptly lost, but then it weighs 3400+ pounds, which is more than twice that of the Metro...

But Boss! They're ported to the back of the car for thrust!!!

gascort, whose guino-tool has already been seen, called in to warn us of his arrival time... at the appointed time, he is spotted circling...

There's more skirts at this meet than you see in some churches!

gascort - the teacher (for real!) - breaks out the secret aero weapons, and a discussion ensues. Weapons are divvied up. L to R is Fast38, Hugh Jim, gascort, and lovemysan. VOTE FOR HAYES!!!

The teacher and the student - in proper attire!

Under-hood instructions follow. Hmmm... Yellow top, with small charger attached!

The belt can indeed be removed, with only one elbow per arm required!!!

Mirror delete trickery...

Much info!!! Much fun!!! Many thoughts of future mods!!!

MANY thanks again to Fast38, for having the wisdom to bring iced-down H2O, which sure came in handy!!!

Oh, yeah, one more picture. I kept trying to think of the name of the exit to get to my Uncle and Aunt's place in KC. The guys at the meet probably thought I wanted to keep it a secret...

I never was good with names, so for prosperity, here is the exit sign... next time, you guys can remind me!!!

Note to self: NEVER EVER schedule an outdoor...

Thank you, Intrigued for arranging the get-together. I'll even forgive you for picking a blacktop parking lot on a 100 degree day: I know you wanted me to feel at home, but couldn't you have done something other than importing weather from Texas!?!

You're telling me! After the meet I met some friends in KC, and got to drive back to St. Louis through the rain storm that evening. Made it to Chicago fine the next day, and the day after to Mich (again). Spent 2 days with a power washer (getting my grandparents house ready to paint) and a day relaxing (recovering?). Just drove back to St. Louis today, and then it's back home to Dallas on Sunday! Thankfully I'll have a few days to recover before I have to head back to class! What was I thinking!?!
