3 out of 3!!!

WooHoo!

The air dam extensions and the "grille blocks" were done from the same piece of 1/16 X 8" lexan. Curiously, the outline I cut for the grille blocks was nearly perfect for the air dam extensions. Just a little trim work, and viola!

I cut the "grille blocks" out about 1 inch from the end of the two pieces (I got a 4 foot piece, and cut it in two) and then heated that last inch of the extensions to bend around to secure to the fender. The other end was secured to a little tab just in front of the existing air dam.

Now... the holes in the "grille" are just for looks. No air really gets to the radiator from them. Hence the quotes around the word grille... The main source of cooling air is from underneath, and the factory air dam channels up the airflow to the radiator. If the air dam on your W-body GM car (Intrigue/Grand Prix etc.) gets broken off, you'll most likely have cooling problems!!!

Neat! More modders to meet!

I'll get both of you on the list tomorrow, and contact everyone Saturday about the mini-meet. I'm cheating at the moment: need to be working on an essay for class...

One Week away... Plan A, B, and C...

Whew! Finally got the "chores" done, and the out of town family has headed back home.

I was temporarily (once...) in touch with Independence Center Mall personnel. They had something going on in "the Commons" there on the 27th, and were willing to rope us off a place and everything. Didn't realize there was going to be just 4 or 5 of us wanting to get together and talk. They also wanted me to have a 2 MILLION dollar umbrella policy and 1 million on each car to be shown. Sent the forms as attachments.

Sooo... I emailed them back, and said we were just a few forum contributors who were wanting to talk for a couple of hours, and compare/look at our ecomods, and that there was no way I could find out what kind of insurance all the other folks had, and was it okay if we just parked out in front of the Sears and talked for a while.

I haven't heard from them since.

So here's the plan(s). Plan A: Go ahead and meet at the Independence Center Mall. Just north of the 70/470 intersection on the east side of KCMO. Click the link to see the pic. I'll be at the most western part of the parking lot - to the left side of the loop in the picture.

Independence Center Mall

Plan B. There is a strip mall just east (to the right in the pic) of the Mall. If we get run off, we'll just go there. We'd have to go back up to 39th Street and then loop down on Jackson Drive. My uncle, who lives in the area, says there are several empty stores there. Shouldn't be a problem.

Plan C. There is a Wendy's just across I-70 to the south of the strip mall. I'll buy the eats if I have to.

Anyone who gets there and don't see me right off... call my cell phone and I'll fill you in. The number is ...

[edit, took out the number, so that spammers wouldn't use up my cell time...]

Just a thought: I suppose (especially if you hear back anything less than positive) it wouldn't hurt for at least a few of us to have made a purchase or two in the mall: Then as long as we aren't bothering others we shouldn't wouldn't have any cause for security to evict us: we'd have the legitimacy of being mall customers who "happened" to run into friends in the parking lot, vs being just trespassers/loiterers.

I was already planning to get into town a touch early so I could grab something to eat before hand, I might as well check out the food court.

Yeah, I was wondering what I might be able to find in Sears. A big bag with "Sears" on it sitting on top of my car should help matters... :-)

if oldertech suddenly ends up not working I wouldn't be surprised to see him...

If there would have been any way I could have come up with the bucks to get AndrewJ's car, I bet I could have pulled twice as many. There are some in the KC area that I haven't heard a peep from...

I am already thinking about next time. Planning a few months out helps too. I may check into other green-type meets around the area, and see if I can find one where I don't have to worry about a $2mil General Liability Rider. Ack!!!
