Interesting that you mentioned VWs. Some folks fitted Beetle carburettors to V6 engines such as the Mitsubishis ranging from 3.0L to 3.5L and even to the 4.3L GM Vortec in my country. Not to mention all the cars with 3-cyl and 4-cyl engines ranging from 0.8L to 2.0L resorting to the carburettor of a motorcycle between 125 to 200cc which is a quite common setup too...

He retired and bought new a ford midsize that got 25 on a 4 banger, had A/C and cruise control.
One thing lost on the So-Cal MOPAR hot-rodders was that, the CHP interceptors had really good 'BRAKES'!
Not only would they 'really go', they'd 'really stop' too.
In the day, Chrysler Corp, was still highly regarded for it's engineering prowess.
It's funny that our neighbor's Jaguar was a 'hemi,' our Honda motorcycles were all 'hemi's, yet, it was mostly regarded that MOPAR was the sole proprietor of the technology. Still is.

Because the term Hemi was patented and trademarked?
