If I was talking about R movies... but I was talking about sh...t display technology and sh...t video system (encoded).

So, it's not puritanical but technological critical.

I'm the same way with smart phones and credit cards. Too much self-respect.

OTOH my promise to myself I would drive VW Beetles until I could skip right over flying cars and get a UFO is getting to be problematic.

I suppose I'm an apatheist.

There is no energy in the world to flying car. And not the required space...

UFO it's a non identified object, so you can't get something you don't even know what is it.

Cell phones are not to enjoy films.

And VWs are self drive and friendship :

Sure they are, especially when placed in a 3D headset.

...sounds like I'm in violation of some sort of commandment or another.

Only if you are :

Otherwise it's a misery...

But cell phones are small, and this reduces the light distortion perceived. And direct frontal look to screen, as all users do, avoid problems of angle view. Small screen reduce noiticeable motion blur, but it's still there, despite tiny.
But contrast still sucks.

And about watch film on small screens... Please, give diginity...

I've got a 60" plasma in the main living room, and a 4k DLP projector creating 150" of viable image on a wall downstairs. I haven't noticed rainbow effect, but then I'm not a videophile. Simply having a 150" image is a joy.

Something say you got too prood of your stuff in this post.
When I said diginity I wasn't trying to put you dows, since I knew you had a plasma large screen.

If I went to a movie theater and perceive rainbow effects or artifact, or both, I would imediately run away from there.
Honestly, I don't even go to movie theater for a long time. I'm afraid to find some horrible sh...t image projection.

This is one of the few rainbows I accept :

Threadjack!

Ontopic: I have Fresnel lenses (scavenged from old overhead projectors) in some windows behind lace curtains. Each dot of sunlight that falls on anything has blue and orange fringes. It reminds me of Goethe's Theory of Colours, that competes with Newton's rainbow.
