1. Pizza pans are $10 instead of 100.
2. Those snap on caps don't always stay put. Not nearly as well as plastic hub caps for some reason.
3. This is a DIY-centric group. We like to do it ourselves.

Most alloy wheels DO NOT have a lip to attach the hub cap to.
So you would have to use steel.
No you have a (probably) heavier rim with all the inertia issues......

Hmmm. Yeah, no. lol I'm really happy to find that Pontiac wheel though. Now that I have my '11 Genesis Coupe and I'm thinking about changing its stock wheels to lighter ones (both are 18") (the stocks weigh about 25 lbs in the front and 29 in the rear) that weigh between 17-18 lbs, I'm now thinking about their aero dynamics.
Here is a link to the wheels I'm looking at possibly getting in the future. They are by no means aerodynamic but they weight 50%+ less than my stock wheels. Is there a possibility of them improving my fuel economy at highway speeds or would I really only notice a gain (due to less weight) at city speeds?
Here's a link to the picture of the stock wheel.

Edit: oddly enough, these wheels I'm thinking about buying have a lip that if I for some reason wanted to add pizza pans to them to make them aerodynamic I probably could. Of course, people would probably give me odd looks when they see pizza pans on a new sports car. lol

You could presumably fix that problem by using a set of wheels with solid snap on wheel covers then just affix the pans or Mooneyes onto the plastic wheel cover.

The GenII Prius has fairly light (14.5?lbs) 15x6 wheels with a tight snap cover as do the GenIII wheels although they are heavier at 16.25lbs.
