well he dropped the wing thing and did the extended spoiler and flipped it up like i was talking about. im sure the fins help. his tests showed it made a difference and even a different study came out showing it helps

personally i wouldnt do it. if i was doing fins down the rear hatch, id just use much smaller ones that are black and would blend in with my car more and give a sportier appearance. it make no give as big gains, but i still care about appearance too.

I like skegs.

....as a fence on the difusser or a tearing edge for the fender skirt.

15-km

It's actually much more than 15 km added, if your not driving the erratic, WLTP, composite driving schedule from which the 15 km was observed at.

They also cited at a little over 700km of range. My Ioniq easily gets more than 1000km of range on a single tank. So that “15km” would be like 25km for my car give or take. And that’s with their HALF spat. Obviously I’m doing a full one so it would be more. Maybe 30-35km. Who knows. I’m still going to do it, then probably abs plastic mount some flare behind for a mini box cavity reduced wake and separation edge because the bottom 6 inches of my car is curved into the back versus a hard edge

Rear skirt test?

I couldn't remember if you'd removed the rear spoiler at the time when you tested the skirts.
If you had, that would probably have caused a drag increase.
The IONIQ needs that little bit of reflex camber to protect the boundary layer.

No. Not doing a boat tail. Only going mini box cavity route

No everything was stock when I did the rear wheel skirt test, besides having the front side mirrors removed on my road trip. No point in side mirrors only rural farm roads in middle of nowhere Idaho

Painted black and did 300 mile round trip road trip today. Hard to tell if it had a positive or negative effect due to all the crosswinds going on in the Columbia gorge. I think my car can pull off the loojs. Obviously final product will be metal, smoother, and factory OEM paint finish and clear coat

But how does the Bowing out affect air flow? Slight front area increase and wouldn’t it be acting like a giant vortex generator or separation edge? The wheels already have smooth covers and the air flow is more straight and stream lined going past the wheel well. Obviously there’s some turbulence being created by the moving wheel and the wheel well openings, but Hyundais already done an effort at guiding some of the air flow around and over it with its body work. Would like someone to chime in explaining how the wheel spat can still reduce drag even with it sticking out versus just a straight streamlined direction with flat wheel covers with the OEM styling…

Please?
