I made them from scratch.

You can buy vinyl from the fabric store, and contact cement from the hardware store, cut out shapes and glue together.

It's heavier and stiffer than I would have liked, but was not an issue.

If you have a solid surface, paint or contact vinyl would be a better choice.

I wonder if you do your artwork on computer, if a sign store can die-cut vinyl a self adhesive contact sheet - full sized.

Everything I did was by hand.

Cd- I've been thinking about this a lot recently with my trip to Bonneville looming. I've been trying to figure out how I want to finalize( not finish, mind you) the body work.

I'm thinking of going with battle ship grey with flat black accents and lettering, including, in the style of your first pics in this thread,; Cd, pilots' name, and one oil well for every ten mpg attainable( in this case 8). I've got some time before I throw paint at it as I have to wait for the most recent batch of foam to fully cure( next weekend), so I'm open for ideas. No teeth for now as the front skirts aren't there.

Sometimes subtle is the best:

(That hatch angle looks a little steep to me)

Another aspect of camo is called 'counter-shading'. In The Big Room, things tend to be lit from the top and shaded on the bottom. Imagine a car that shows a lot of inner wheelwell with wide whitewalls and the wells painted white. Then the roof is Slate grey and the are 3 shades of gray in-between. The car would be just as visible (moreso?), but would have an ethereal, ghostlike quality. To go subtle, and since you don't have much in the way of wheelwells, medium to dark body color with a lighter rocker panel stripe with a wavy edge.

My favorite, and the most manly, shade of pink is Mountbatten pink.

Just don't drive it at twilight.

^^Sounds like dazzle- making people think something is something that it's not, creating visual "corners" on flat metal and generally disupting visual patterns.

Anyway. I got my butt in gear this week. Teaser pic.

Thanks for the inspiration, guys!

Sven- That is SWEET! I love the UFO Recovery bit! I'm gonna' miss the dazzle, but I like this, too.

Cool is one thing, effective is another. Effective is actually cool, given a moment's thought:

For the budget minded ecomodder, this is probably just the thing. The one on the other end of this pic is $11.21 for a 36 yard roll:

And digital camo FTL. Greens blended well in the woods and browns blended well in the dirt. The mixture of brown chothes and green gear that we had was a mess.

Heh. You ever get down to the end of a thread, reply, and then notice that there was a second page to the thread?
