Dimly recall a pictures and article somewhere saying there's this person somewhere in LA county making 5 converted bugs compressed air powered as a business and had sold 3(?) BUT source and epoch remain hidden in that brain picture. Pictures rule that this is after 486 powered internet, maybe during my hot vws subscription in 2001-2003. Alternatively could have been pre 1985 when I still lived in LA and covered on TV or local newspapers.

I think the home fillers should have set a lower target preasure for the home units, like 1,000 to 2,000psi, enough to get you to and from work and around town bit not full pressure.

Home filling might not be suitable for everybody due to access to a natural gas pipeline or a dedicated carport, so it wouldn't render fuel stations accessible to the public a redundant thing.

When it comes to home filling, I guess a lower-pressure setup would make most people be willing to refuel at a regular gas station anyway...
