Cooling fan monitor
I should have done this earlier in the season when it was REALLY hot, but I hooked up the multimeter to monitor the cooling fan - I can't hear it when I'm driving.
The reason: I changed my driver-adjustable grille block to string-activated this:
Better late than never? There was frost on some of the roofs this morning.

drinking problem
I've been periodically topping up the engine oil since I got this car, but never recorded any details until this summer.
Looks like around 1 L (1.1 qt) every ~3k km (1800 mi)
Some of it is being burned & some of it is leaking.

Thats pretty good (comparatively speaking anyway) especially depending on how big the leak is. Does it drip on the ground or is it the kind that just makes everything all gunky in the engine bay?

It does both!
It self-rustproofs the belly of the car and drips enough on the driveway that I put a piece of plywood under the car to catch it. I've had a cursory look for the source, and couldn't find it. Maybe rear main seal?
But I suspect more is burned than leaks - maybe 3/4 to 1/4.

Posting mostly for my records...
Ambient: 23 C / 73 F
25 km trip
Mostly level terrain, with a couple of biggish hills
Technique: driving with load, PSL 80 km/h / 50 mph
The cooling fan cycled ~5 times with the variable block door closed the whole way.
