How the hell can people afford to have their cars worked on? I am thankful that

First off Congratulations on job well done, I know it wasn't easy my wife has family there and they always complain about PA inspections.

I know how you feel about others molesting your vehicle I hate having people every working on mine that is why I do it myself, unless it is my wife's car it is under factory warranty. Free changes everything.

AMEN to knowing how to work on our own cars, I wouldn't be able to drive if I didn't know how.

Now I need to get me another Metro or Swift! I am seriously thinking about picking another one up if I find one cheap. Maybe even go for an older model?

Congrats, On the PA Inspection, Just think if you had to pay for Emissions inspection to. I get $25 for Pa state and $45 for emissions inspection and I'm the most inexpensive shop in my area. I would have put the bulb in for $2.50 plus the cost of the bulb. But knowing that you do your own work I would have held the sticker and put it on after you installed the bulb in the parking lot! I guess that's why I'm not rich. But I'm happy

According to my fuel log, my MPG's increased some, but we had 2-3 days of strong wind (beneficial wind) so that messed the whole log up. I have already removed the intake hose and got my exhaust back together and all is normal.

Now to work on finding a 1995-1997 bumper or trying to block off some of this bumper I have.

Hey, congrats on the inspection!

You looking for the "guppy mouth" grille/bumper?

Yes. That bumper is more aerodynamic and easier to block. It also has the factory turn signal lights that go with my headlight conversion.

Yeah, I have decided I like the look of the guppy better, anyway. I saw 4 guppy mouths at the junkyard today on my fruitless trip to find a radiator and a timing cover. Too bad all were body colored (all were green and white). They also wanted too damn much!

I could not believe it... 6 Metros and all were 4 cyl. autos!!!

My search for a replacement bumper has not been good. Every place that has one in stock will not sell just the skin, but the entire bumper. The cheapest one I found was $100 but it is a painted (purple) bumper and has lots of cosmetic damage to it also. I even tried to haggle a little with some of these places since the shop I work at uses their facilities for parts, but really got nowhere.

I figure that I want to do something with my bumper aerodynamics by winter, so I still have a few months to search. If I do not find a 1995-1997 bumper skin I will have to make a grill block for the current bumper. In order to block this bumper correctly, I will basically have to block the entire lower portion off and figure out a new way to utilize the lamps I installed so I have legal lighting requirements.

I have a few ideas on this and will update as I progress.

If I had a Star Trek Transporter I'd ship you one. There's a small hillside in East Texas, near Avinger covered with them.Breaks my heart to see 'em out of service.
