Have you looked up the VIN? That might show mileage records.

I talked to the PO, 135,000.

Why are you painting the rockers?
To connect the front and back bumpers. Maybe I should get some plastic cladding off a Pontiac Azteck or something and color-match that.

I'll likely paint the wheels first. What do you think? Light gray with a maroon pinstripe or red?

Might want to spring for an ELM obd2 dongle and download the torque app or whatever works for that manufacturer.

OBD1. Not as easy as plugging something in to the port to get that data out of it.

He "needs" an MPGuino. Like the one sitting in a box in front of me.

Don't ask me where you'd find one of those any more.

I'd put the logo in the front corner of the door. You technically can mask off the ghost, then spray the dip, and peal the mask off while the dip is still wet and it should leave a white ghost of factory paint under. You can do multiple coats that are mostly dry, but that last coat needs to pull the mask while still wet.

I appreciate the suggestion. One-thirds rule instead of centered.

You're right, a new mask every four coats. Trace with a knife blade before peeling it.

Not new. Just in a box, where it's been sitting since another forum member was hot to get his hands on it at first then never came through.

I should have posted it again, but I get easily discouraged when it's not something I'm overly interested in or worth the effort.

I had it on two of my Metros, a '92 and a '95. Been sitting around since selling the '95. Could use a new home!

New in the box, you say?
As long as the last coat is freshly wet, it should peal without tearing and without having to cut it with a blade which will scratch an outline into the factory paint. The last coat does have to be a heavy wet coat that will re-wet the lower layers, and all of the coats shouldn't be more than 20 mins old each. Basically light 50% transparent coat, wait 20 mins, 2nd light coat to 75% transparent, wait 20 mins. Then 1 or 2 heavy coats with 20 mins between, but pull the tape (or mask) immediately after the last coat.

Other places wait for it to dry to peal the overspray up to the break off line.

This video is dip stripes on top of dipped car so it's a little different, but should work the same. He starts talking about the painting process at 9:29

It did surprise me how the air-cooled Deutz-powered trucks and tractors which used to be quite popular in Argentina had a more effective cab heating than a VW.

Stock 12 inchers too!
Haven't seen any Suzuki Swift with 12-inch rims in my country. Finding tyres for them would be a nightmare though.
