Any way you could get someone in the back of hte car to adjust it on the fly? YOu could tuft it up then adjust the angle to the point where flow remains attached with maximum angle and you're set.

Question for hte pros. Does the maximum angle of attached flow varry with vehicle speed?

Already have, lol. I told my wife "It doesn't seem like a big deal to you, but this is big on Ecomodder!"

ScanGauge is too expensive, I do all this to save money, lol. I will be making an MPGuino though as the price is right and my abilities allow me for some easy assembly of it. Now if only I could find the time to do all this. Having a 3 yr. old, an 8 mo. and a wife makes it hard to find time to "play" with my car, as my wife calls it, lol.

The sides are only attached with Gaffer's tape at the moment so it wouldn't be difficult to just set the slope, tuft test, then stop and readjust the slope angle and reattach with tape and keep testing. It would be funny to see a buddy of mine hanging out the back trying to change the slope angle as I drive down the highway though......boy, that would kill my mileage too, lol.

Hint, hint!
I have a mini tripod that I could mount to the roof of the car...the only thing is, I think that would disrupt the airflow to the tufts and give skewed results. Might have to see if one of my photography buddies will drive near me and film then.

Genius! My Mind is stuck on MAP testing all 700 students at my school for the last two weeks. Only one more week to go!

I can't definitivly answer that, but I can say this: If maximum angle of attached flow is determined by speed, I'm going to set mine up for my highway cruising speed of 60MPH.

You're speaking to the choir, brother. I feel your pain.

As for attached flow at various speeds;
I don't think it depends on speed. I do know that airflow will stay attached to a sharp angle only at transonic/supersonic speeds. Which are completely irrelevant to us, of course. Aerohead needs to weigh in on this...

Just remember having attached flow doesn't necessarily mean low drag, the case in point is the VW beetles which has excellent attached flow but a woeful Cd of 0.48:

If you are getting attached flow and the angle is more than the 15% from horizontal it may be worth heat bending the trailing edge back to horizontal like the rear spoiler on the prius:

OT: Try using GIMP for your photo manipulation.

I am looking into Kammbacking my Mazda pickup. No plexi here. likely to be Corplast over aluminum.

I was under the impression that although it is smooth, the bug has a horrible tendancy to break attached flow in bursts due to its high angle at the back...
