Corded mowers are great! I've used electric mowers for 15 years now and never cut the cord once (although I'm _______ with karma saying that). I did replace the old double blade mower that came with the house for a direct drive mulching model but neither one ever required anything other than the odd sharpening. You plug it in, you squeeze the switch and it whirs to life. No tuneups, no running out of gas, no trying to finish before the battery depletes.
My smaller 40 x 110' lot costs 2½ cents to mow.

Do you guys have larger yards? it takes about an hour to mow mine by hand with a push lawnmower I've been keeping on life support for about 2 years now. i'd have to have about 4 ext cords to do my whole yard!

Nice find, Ben!
We recently traded mowers with my brother. Traded the plug-in electric for his hulking 6hp gas. Mostly because the electric is small/light enough that my 9 y/o nephew can cut their grass (the gas one was too big for him to handle).
I mostly use a push reel mower, but every 4 or 5 cuts use the powered one (eg. if I let it grow too long). I figure the swap was win, win on several fronts, even though I'm now stuck using the gas one once in a while.

I'm looking forward to seeing some great hypermiling out of that mower: increased compression ratio, economy cam, speed efficiency plots, etc...

First step is getting the MPGuino to work on it. I'm way ahead of you!

BTW Neuton is not the robotic mower ( but that would be cool to have also/instead) http://www.neutonpower.com/
I have a very small yard (so I have the small mower, cause their was no choice 3 years ago) and one fluid free 12 volt battery cuts the whole thing 2x
I just happen to live in an area where our electric comes from a Nuke Plant. ( I'm OK with that)
just a note to clear that up

our ICE powered lawn mower doesn't seem to want to start anymore. It's 5 years old and I think I might get my mom looking into an electric push mower.
