You share a lot of personal stuff as if you're soliciting advice, and me being a guy, can't listen to problems without trying to develop solutions. I often miss ques to instead provide only feedback that affirms...

As my disclaimer said, I'm speaking out of ignorance and it's possible your trajectory is already fairly optimized. If I'm critical, it's only cause I care.

My outlook on life is different than most others, so I don't expect people to find what I consider to be acceptable (living in my car for example), to be acceptable for themselves.

That said, I do sorta refuse to look at debt through the eyes of others and insist on my own perspective. I know if I owed someone and had hit financial hardship, I'd be driving Uber or finding other ways to bring some money in. I'd repay what I can rather than nothing. Certainly I'd cancel my Xbox Live subscription and stop eating takeout (things I never/rarely indulge in anyhow). Failing all that, and having an abundance of time on my hands, I'd pull weeds or do something else to add value to the place I'm living.

As I write this, perhaps the way to mitigate moral hazard is to offer free rent, but under the condition that I get some help with yardwork and staining the deck.

They approved teletherapy, so I will be turning the shed into an office, and trying to pay less attention to the news until I finish.

I am going to ask if I can get teleclients, but they would need current evaluations, and I might not receive my rural rate.

Edit! Someone on the radio just tossed out the number of $2,000 a month for the duration of the emergency, which is more than I have made some months.

Will they send money to the incapacitated? My brother still has all of the money from Dad's settlement and Social Security covers all of his needs. He had a much money in the bank as he is allowed, so I do not know how we would spend any checks, or how to explain it to the judge.

Doesn't someone (you or mom) have power of attorney of financial matters for your brother? From what you describe, he doesn't seem to have the faculties necessary to minimally attend to his finances.

I'm never yielding to an angry mob. If they get in the way, I'll very slowly push through in a way that allows them to safely move. If they get violent, I will respond in violence. I'll never instigate an incident, but I'll also never be on the losing end of one that others start. I abhor pointless trouble.

The law allows for you to secure your own safety in the presence of violent people.
