Swine flu (H1N1)

CDC

https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/estimates_2009_h1n1.htm

Quote:
CDC Estimates of 2009 H1N1 Influenza Cases, Hospitalizations and Deaths in the United States

During the pandemic, CDC provided estimates of the numbers of 2009 H1N1 cases, hospitalizations and deaths on seven different occasions. Final estimates were published in 2011. These final estimates were that from April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010 approximately 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (8868-18,306) occurred in the United States due to pH1N1. These final estimates are available at: Estimating the burden of 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) in the United States (April 2009-April 2010)External Web Site Icon, Shrestha SS, et al., Clin Infect Dis. 2011 Jan 1;52 Suppl 1:S75-82.
60,800,000 cases ÷ 365 days = 166,575 confirmed cases per. day

12,469 deaths ÷ 365 days = 34.16 per. day

Covid-19

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

30 days since first death contributed to the virus in the U.S.A.

46,168 cases ÷ 30 days = 139 confirmed cases per. day

582 deaths ÷ 30 days = 19.4 deaths per. day

It’s early though and Covid-19 is more deadly percentage wise.

Deaths from Auto accidents U.S.A.

Annual United States Road Crash Statistics

Over 37,000 people die in road crashes each year

An additional 2.35 million are injured or disabled

Over 1,600 children under 15 years of age die each year

Nearly 8,000 people are killed in crashes involving drivers ages 16-20

Road crashes cost the U.S. $230.6 billion per year, or an average of $820 per person

We found out (at 2am in the morning, those jerks) from the lab that my wife's suspected COVID patient is positive. Silverton (population 10,000) is infected.

Last night I completed all the box store purchases I can think to make for the coming months. Looks like weekends will be dedicated to home improvements for the coming months.

There ought to be a letter or something that can be sewn to the cloths to designate that you've already had the virus and have fully recovered. That way those people can band together and continue life as normal. There's really no sense isolating someone who has immunity.

It is pretty safe to assume that COVID 19 is in every population center in the USA large and small. We simply don't have the testing capability to confirm it but this has been circulating in the USA for 3 months now.

Two problems with your idea for ID people that have had it

Scientific: We don't have a test to confirm someone has had the infection after they have recovered. We don't even have enough tests to test everyone with active symptoms.

Human Nature: If you gave people an identifier that allowed them back to normal activities a large number of people would lie. We already know sick people are going to work because they don't have sick time.

Yeah, lots of problems with my idea. Maybe people that are better can get travel papers from their doctor after they had been confirmed to have it, and then confirmed to have recovered.

My dad just mentioned that he feels badly for burglars now that everyone is sheltering in place. Business for them must have plummeted, and the government should provide some warehouses with loot to plunder.

That got me wondering, spanging (asking for spare change) on street corners has probably dropped to nearly zero, so how are meth addicts getting by these day? Perhaps this will have forced some people to detox from addictions?

What about the illicit... cuddling... industry? Are they staying home or are they spreading disease like usual.

Edit: One of my old Army friend mentioned on Facebook that she has coronavirus. I wonder if anyone else that I know personally has it and just has not mentioned it, has mentioned it, but I rarely check my news feed, or has it, but does not know it yet.

Coronavirus has a face for me now.

Edit²: My sister just sent a group message:
Quote:
I've been sent home for a minimum of 72 hours until after I am free of all symptoms including headaches (which I get from stress regularly), cough (I have allergies), body aches (i'm old and out of shape, when don't I ache?) I don't feel sick. I don't want to be home. I want to be at work helping patients.

The study cited in the video looks somewhat promising:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=q4P91VrfPGw

No reinfection in the monkeys, so there's a good chance the reinfections were really just false negatives.

I figure if I were ever confronted by a street gang I'd ask if they can fix the potholes ...just before they stomp me.

I've been absent from building materials stores and Goodwill for long enough the 20s are piling up, so I went to a local health food store and stocked up the things both Youtube and my doctor recommended.
Reishi Mushroom capsules
Ascorbate-C capsules
'Emergency-C' generic
I forgot the Zinc. I already had Vitamin D.

Linus wants you to use your computer to help find a cure!

I have watched few videos lately unrelated to the outbreak. People need a distraction, but also people making content keep saying that they are being demonitized, so I understand, I just am not interested.

Are they completely ignoring the pandemic? I am sure that most videos take a while to complete, but at some point this should start affecting them, like The King of Random, which is filmed in Utah. For a while they had far more cases than Arizona, with a fraction as many people, and it kind of seemed like they had even worse shortages. My sister said that she just goes to outlying suburbs and the stores have plenty.

Apparently Linus released this video yesterday and I just saw it now:

So, if you have unused computers, you can install some software, and lend unused processing power. You can use this while you use the computer, too, it just won't use too much power.

However, they set up a $25,000 machine, and all of my computers would only be a fraction as useful as that.

How many unused computers do they have? Can they run this on their work computers when they go home at night?

Shouldn't they be working from home?
