XP Antivirus is a lie!
I had this pop up on my computer once. I don't know how it got there, but there it was. XP Antivirus, it turns out, will first sneak in through a crack in your armor and deposit a few threatening-looking files on your system registry. But they aren't files, they're really just filenames; they aren't threats. And since they have no functional code in them, your regular scanware can't find them.
Only XP Antivirus can. All it does is go in and ream out those files and that's it.
I got rid of mine with a system recovery, but it could require a full destructive restore to clear yours, YMMV. There are also suggestions on the web how to get rid of it without taking these more drastic steps; I just did it my way because I can set it and forget it. Whatever you do, don't buy the XP Antivirus line! DO NOT be taken in by the hype. It's crap.
The only reason you're seeing the message is because your computer has been infected with the XP Antivirus ad. Ream it out and update your security. I haven't seen it come back in the three months since I got rid of mine.
