My brothers Prius' mileage jumped by an estimated 5 MPG when he bought new Ecopia Bridgestones, but the tires he replaced were cheap junk the dealer had installed when he bought the car used a while back.
It's not scientific or ABA but I think I will try them on my Fiesta when I wear out the original Kuhmos.

The Ecopia EP100 summer tire was tested and shown to provide a 3+mpg improvement over other LRR tires and a nearly 4mpg improvement over a non-LRR economy tire. Compared to a performance tire the improvement would be even higher. Unfortunately I have not seen any tests on the all-season variant the Ecopia EP422 but it should be nearly as good.

The Ecopia 100 only shows 3 15" and 17" sizes on tirerack. The 400 series has a lot of sizes to offer. I overlooked Bridgestone since I assumed they were made in Japan, which I try not to support shipping stuff overseas if I can help it, but TR says "US" so I might try them.

Any objections to 195 55 16 (19 lbs and 24.5 dia) over 205 60 16 (21 lbs and 24.9 dia) saving 2 lbs but slightly shortening my top speed?

That'll actually raise your top speed. 195/55/16 has an outer diameter of 24.4", making 825 revs per mile. 205/60/16 is 25.7", making 785 revs per mile. When your speedo reads 60 mph, you are actually travelling 63.0 mph.

It's out but the didn't get any mpg numbers...

Interestingly, the Ascend didn't do as well as expected. I thought the wet traction was fine but I didn't have the luxury of comparing it with other tires back to back. Still pretty lame they didn't get any mpg figures.

But all speedo numbers aside, it will lower my RPMs at 60mph which will produce slightly better MPG right? Which is why racers use 13/14's for better accel with a shorter ceiling on top speed.

A shorter tire will raise your RPM at 60mph and produce lower mpg in general.

It will RAISE your RPMs to use smaller wheels/tires. The reason race cars use smaller wheel/tire combos is because it lowers the weight the engine has to move instantaneously, meaning better acceleration. Coupled with engines that regularly go above 10k rpm's, they don't have to worry about running out of revs and they're definitely not worried about MPGs.
Taller tires weigh more but are balanced out by responsible eco driving, and give you fewer RPMs per revolution of the tire, allowing you to run your engine at lower revs to save fuel.

What is the point in testing LRR tires and not displaying their MPG or fuel saving abilities... That is like testing which airplane floats in water the best...
