I think that solely basing it on weight is not accurate.

If you follow the link, you'll find it's a DIY 'rule of thumb'. Backed up by the average of the OEM numbers.

But I've got you covered. The chart shows a 50%/200% difference between the Tesla and the Smart EV. That's due to everything else.

The Mercedes electric always gets a bad rap because (the opposite of Chevy which is way optimistic) it reports a very pessimistic consumption which is supposed to account for the wall to wheels losses.

I set a new personal best: just under 217Wh / mile, or ~155.5MPGe or ~4.61 miles / kWh.

The air temperature gets higher, and energy consumption gets lower.

Edit: the dash display was 5.6 miles per kWh, which is ~21.5% higher than the actual efficiency - so either the Leaf is significantly more lossy in charging vs the e-Golf, or the display is a lot more optimistic, or both.

I drove almost 103 miles on a charge:

This is with the stock Ecopia tires again, and I checked the calibration, and for whatever reason it is over by less than before - now I reduce the mileage by 1.7%. (See my fuel log for details.)

And this is a big drop in the consumption - down to just under 207Wh/mile or 162.8MPGe! Very nice indeed. Forest is a much better coaster than Number 7, with their respective tires. I am running the e-Golf's Continentals at 50PSI, and the Ecopias (and the Hakka R2 this winter) at 45PSI. The Leaf is likely higher aero drag than the e-Golf, so the difference in the tires seems to be the difference.

At 50 psi you cant have much of tire contact patch, and it must be noisy & bumpy as all get out.

Lots of people here run higher than normal tire pressures. It is more bumpy, but not really that bad at all IMO. Think sports car and you're pretty close.

I ran just over 50 psi in my Rio. I didn't think it was too bad. My wife has back problems and complained about it nearly every time we went somewhere. She hated that little car's ride.
