Now you can integrate a camera on there...

Hmmm, that would be cool, but less is more in my case.

I did take some pictures of rain on my side window... there was turbulence along the A-pillar but not much at "mirror" height.

I find this thread a bit strange, because for years I've thought of adding a passenger side mirror to my old car.
When you want to get in the right lane, you are blind to what is racing up behind you.
No passenger side mirror in 1977.
In another thread they said both side mirrors together account for .1 in your Cd, I don't see how removal of one mirror can make a 1-mpg difference. Maybe it prevents you from getting in the fast lane for fear of having to get back over, but that would be about it.
Just my two cents....................safety first.

Wow, that looks incredible! Looks like it's right from the factory. Are you going to mount a small mirror on the inside, go with a camera, or just leave it how it is? Just wondering.

Whether you have big or small blindspots depends on the car, and so does whether there is a benefit to a mirror delete. Some mirrors are better integrated into the body and produce less trouble--apparently--than others. For some there will be little to know measurable difference. But assuming there is a minor benefit these seems to fit into the category of mods you do knowing you will need to do many more to pile-up small benefits into a significant one. To me the point of modding is not just the big gain, it is also experimenting with multiple small changes that together create a big change.
As for safety... I agree, but I don't see this as a safety issue. My interior convex mirror is coordinated with the windshield mounted mirror: before any object in the center mirror disappear, it appears in the convex mirror (even motorcycles). I have no blind spot. And I can always look to the right, which I also do (out of habit).

Hiyah Jean-Seb,
I just noticed in post #9 you replaced the stock mirror and that you are considering some ABAB testing soon. I'd love to see you do the testing. You'll need a good sensitive design for the test, as the benefit always seems significant but small if it materializes. Did you put the mirror back due to concern about visibility? There is an adjustment, but if you get a good sized convex mirror, place it carefully--as I know you will given the expertise of this little mod--and then angle it so the image overlaps with your center mirror you will not lose visibility of traveling objects on your right, though when you see them through which mirror will change.
No matter whether you keep the delete or not, this build and and test you design well, whether it shows a benefit or none, will be useful to the forum community without a doubt.
Regards,
james

I did not know this, thank you for letting me know.
An important point before anyone embarks on this sort of project.
